Hectic

What a hectic first couple days of classes!!

Within the first few days of being back, we got about 10 inches of snow yet still had classes. The policy at Appalachian is that if the bus system can run then we go to class. Well, I live at the top of a very very steep mountain and its hard to clear it. (Not to mention they never clear the parking lot of my dorm so its almost impossible for any of us to get out.) But, on my way to class on Monday, the bus decided it didn't like the slickness and slide all the way down the mountain side ways. That was the least of their worries, another bus hit a Montero on its way to campus. Needless to say, we shouldn't have gone.

But I've started this semester a thing called 'Block 1' This is a submersion program for the elementary education students. It's a block of 4 classes that I take that overlap each other and allow for 8 days in the classroom. It's a lot of information and I really like it but at the same time, I have never had so much homework in my life. I spent the entirety of my snow day last Wednesday doing homework. And, it makes Tuesday and Thursday seem like they last forever since I am in class from 8 until 5. I know this seems like a lot of complaining but at the same time, I am really enjoying that I'm actually getting to learn how to be a teacher.

This past Friday, I went to UNC - Chapel Hill for a wrestling match.

They had a jumbo tron and everything just for the match. It was quite interesting. Well for the first time in about 30 years, we ACTUALLY beat Carolina! The final score was 19 to 19 but they can't end in ties so therefore we go to certain criteria from each individual match and then determine a winner from there. I had a really good time!

I hope that everyone is going really well and that they are enjoying this lack of snow. Although, we're supposed to get, and I quote, "this system will bring the most amount of snow that Watauga County has seen thus far this winter. Please prepare accordingly." This system is said to be here as early as Tuesday morning but we'll see when it gets here.

I'm off to do homework for the remainder of the day! :)

Christmas Break

I hope everyone had a wonderfully blessed Christmas! As I did!
Just relaxed around the house with the family. I'm 'attempting' to catch up on relaxation because when I go back to school next week, I won't get much time to sit and relax.

My boyfriend, Grayson, got my a digital camera because I didn't have one!
Its  beautiful and just what I wanted!!

My parents got me some lovely things! (And the car from the previous post!)

Here are a few pictures I snapped of objects && the wonderful WHITE Christmas that we were able to experience!

I used to play this game on Nintendo 64 and LOVED it so I asked Dad to buy it for me (:
What's black and white with red all over????
Have a wonderfully safe New Years!!!

NEW CAR!!!

As most of you know, I have been driving the White Ford Ranger that my parents gave to me on my 18th birthday. Well, as this was exactly what I wanted at the time, it has proven to be a gas-guzzler and some things don't work the way they should sometimes. Well... in lieu of Mom's car dying, they bought me a new, more snow-functioning car!!!!

Its perfect! AWD, 4cyl, ect. And since Boone just got a total of 17 inches of snow in the past three days, it seems very fitting!!

Also, today marks the end of my exams. I took my last one at 9oclock this morning and can soon hopefully say that I made Dean's List once again.

I can't wait to see some of you very soon!!!
Much love!

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Hello everyone!!!

We lost against Florida but we played very hard.
This past Saturday, we played Western Illinois in the Second Round of the playoffs and this coming up weekend we are playing Villanova. Should be very interesting!!

Well, we are sort of stuck in a winter wonderland at the moment. It has been snowing since Friday and have ceased to let up! Which is very unfortunate because I start my finals today and it is pouring snow.

Today's climate: 19 degrees with a -1 windchill, snowing, with gusts up to 50 mph.
We aren't expected to reach over 20 degrees until Friday.
I know this is what Aunt Teresa lives through for about 6 months of the year but for someone like me that doesn't really get to experience snow, its quite fun :) (Minus the wind)

This is a link that I found on the Appalachian Website that allows you to see what our conditions are like:

Also, this is one for the main intersection in town:

I look forward to seeing most of you in a few weeks!!!
8 days until finals are done!

ASU vs FLORIDA

Our Mountaineers are traveling to Gainsville Florida today to play the Gators in some football!!! As we all know, the Mountaineers traveled to Michigan 3 years ago to play there and we beat them by a stroke of luck, we're hoping for another upset today at 12:30.

 Our Mountaineer Band of Distinction!
Yosef the Mountaineers fires off the this shot gun before every game and after every Mountaineer Touchdown!
Our new quarterback since Armanti was drafted by the Panthers last year.
We are the Southern Conference Champions for the 6th year in a row!!
Another picture of our quarterback, DeAndre.

Also, this week: I play on an Intramural Volleyball team and we won the championship for the all women's league! We were awarded this awesome new shirt and bragging rights for the year!

I hope everyone has a great week && Go Mountaineers!!!!!!

The First Snow of the Season!

Well, As it started to 'snow' in Boone today for the first time since late April, it also decided that it did not want to stick (yet). So I wanted to take the time to post a few pictures from last year to bring back to wonderful memories. Especially since I'm really excited about the snow that is to be expect this year :)

This was on my way home actually. Just in time for the most snow Hendersonville has seen in 15 years!
This is on campus, behind my old dorm room. So beautiful.

This was a bench on campus last year during the 'Blizzard of '10'. They shut down campus for 3 days. Some places had over 3 feet while others had at least a foot. Hopefully, it will do this again! It's a lot of fun to 'steal' lunch room trays and use them as sleds throughout campus.

I hope everyone is having a great first week of November and I look forward to seeing you (or hearing from you) very soon!
